Scaling New Heights: CALL/ACBD 2011

From May 15 - 18, 2011, the 49th Annual Conference of the Canadian Association of Law Libraries will be held in beautiful Calgary.

The Hyatt Regency Calgary is our conference hotel, centrally located along the Stephen Avenue Pedestrian Mall and just blocks away from picturesque pathways along the Bow River.

We’ve got a great educational program planned, with seminars focused on collection development in the digital age, cost recovery and project management. We are also very excited to have Will Ferguson, award winning author and humorist, as one of our plenary session speakers.

Finally, what’s a conference without great parties?! CALL/ACBD has the privilege of being one of the first events held at the Taylor Family Digital Library (TFDL), the newest library at the University of Calgary. The TFDL is a truly innovative space and will make for a memorable opening reception.

Our closing banquet will be held at Gasoline Alley Museum, which is part of Heritage Park Historical Village. We will dine amid restored vintage vehicles representing various eras of automotive history, the largest collection of restored gas pumps and vintage signs in North America, as well as a wonderful collection of oil and gas memorabilia. This one of a kind collection is the recent recipient of a top award from the Tourism Industry Association of Canada National Awards for Tourism Excellence.

Please visit the conference website to discover what else we’ve got planned, including digging for dinosaurs, beer and the Japanese art of Pecha Kucha.
